করোনা উপসর্গ নিয়ে উপজেলা চেয়ারম্যানের মৃত্যু

এস এ সিরাজুল ইসলাম, মান্দা (নওগাঁ)প্রতিনিধি : করোনার উপসর্গ জ্বর, সর্দি ও শ্বাসকষ্ট নিয়ে নওগাঁর মান্দা উপজেলা পরিষদের চেয়ারম্যান ও উপজেলা আওয়ামী লীগের সাধারণ সম্পাদক সরদার মো. জসিম উদ্দিন (৭৮) মারা গেছেন (ইন্নালিল্লাহি ওয়া ইন্না ইলাইহি রাজিউন)। 

সোমবার সকাল ৮টায় রাজশাহী মেডিকেল কলেজ হাসপাতালে চিকিৎসাধীন অবস্থায় তাঁর মৃত্যু হয়। মান্দা উপজেলা স্বাস্থ্য ও পরিবার পরিকল্পনা কর্মকর্তা মুহাম্মদ মশিউর রহমান এ তথ্য নিশ্চিত করেন। মারা যাওয়ার সময় তিনি চার মেয়ে, তিন ছেলে, নাতি-নাতনিসহ অসংখ্য গুণগ্রাহী রেখে গেছেন। সরদার জসিম প্রায় চার দশক ধরে মান্দা উপজেলা আওয়ামী লীগের গুরুত্বপূর্ণ পদে থেকে অত্যন্ত নিষ্ঠার সঙ্গে দায়িত্ব পালন করেন।

নিহতের পারিবারিক ও মান্দা উপজেলা স্বাস্থ্য বিভাগ সূত্রে জানা যায়, গত বুধবার থেকে জ্বর- সর্দি ও শ্বাসকষ্টের সমস্যায় ভুগছিলেন তিনি। গত শনিবার নিজ বাড়ি থেকে করোনা পরীক্ষার জন্য তাঁর নমুনা সংগ্রহ করেন স্থানীয় স্বাস্থ্য কর্মীরা।

তাঁর শ্বাসকষ্ট বেড়ে যাওয়ায় গতকাল রোববার সকালে উপজেলা স্বাস্থ্য কমপ্লেক্সে প্রাথমিক চিকিৎসা দিয়ে তাঁকে রাজশাহী মেডিকেল কলেজ হাসপাতালে পাঠানো হয়েছিল। সেখানে চিকিৎসাধীন অবস্থায়  সোমবার সকাল ৮টায় তাঁর মৃত্যু হয়।

উপজেলা স্বাস্থ্য কর্মকর্তা আরও বলেন, সরদার জসিম উদদীন দীর্ঘদিন ধরে ডায়াবেটিস ও হার্টের সমস্যায় ভুগছিলেন। গত বুধবার জ্বর ও শ্বাসকষ্টের সমস্যা দেখা দিলে তিনি বাড়িতে থেকেই চিকিৎসা নিচ্ছিলেন। তিনি বলেন, স্বাস্থ্যবিধি মেনেই তার লাশ দাফন করা হবে। নিহতের পরিবার সদস্যদের নমুনা পরীক্ষার ফল না আসা পর্যন্ত কোয়ারেন্টিনে থাকতে বলা হয়েছে।

Upazila chairman died of corona symptoms

SA Sirajul Islam, Manda (Naogaon) Correspondent: Chairman of Naogaon Manda Upazila Parishad and General Secretary of Upazila Awami League Sardar Mohammad with corona symptoms fever, cold and shortness of breath. Jasim Uddin (6) is dead (Innalillahi wa inna ilahi rajiun).

He died at Rajshahi Medical College Hospital at 8am on Monday. Manda Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer Muhammad Mashiur Rahman confirmed the information. He is survived by four daughters, three sons and many grandchildren. Sardar Jasim held the important post of Manda Upazila Awami League for almost four decades with utmost devotion.

According to the family of the deceased and Manda Upazila Health Department, he had been suffering from fever, cold and shortness of breath since last Wednesday. Last Saturday, local health workers collected samples from his home for corona testing.

He was rushed to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital with first aid at the Upazila Health Complex on Sunday morning due to increased breathing difficulties. He died at 8 am on Monday while undergoing treatment there.

The Upazila Health Officer further said that Sardar Jasim Uddin had been suffering from diabetes and heart problems for a long time. He was receiving treatment at home last Wednesday due to fever and shortness of breath. He said his body would be buried according to hygiene rules. Family members of the deceased have been asked to remain in quarantine till the results of the sample test come out.
