দীপক সরকার, বগুড়া প্রতিনিধি: দীর্ঘদিন সংস্কারের অভাবে যানবাহন ও সাধারণ মানুষের চলাচলে নানা দূর্ভোগ পোহাতে হয় গ্রামবাসীদের। স্থানীয় সরকার থেকে বেশ কয়েকবার রাস্তাটি সংস্কার করে দিলেও টিকসই না হওয়ায় রাস্তাটিতে নানা খানা-খন্দকের শেষ নেই। সামান্য বৃষ্টির পানি জমেই চলাচল অনুপযোগী হয়ে পড়ে বগুড়ার শেরপুরের শাহবন্দেগী ইউনিয়নের খন্দকারটোলা-উচরং আ লিক সড়কটির অনেক অংশ।
এতে নানা দুর্ভোগ পোহাতে হচ্ছে সুবিধাভোগী ১২ গ্রামের মানুষদের। দীর্ঘদিন ধরে ওই সড়কের মাজারগেট- বাংলালিংক টাওয়ার এবং মাজারগেট-প্রাথমিক বিদ্যালয় এলাকার সংস্কারবিহীন অবস্থায় সাড়ে ৮’শ মিটার সড়ক পড়ে থাকায় এবার নিজস্ব অর্থায়নে ও স্বেচ্ছাশ্রমে সংস্কার কাজে হাত দিলেন ভূক্তভোগী গ্রামবাসী।
ওই সড়ক সংস্কারে উপজেলা প্রশাসন ও স্থানীয় প্রশাসন কোন উদ্যোগ গ্রহন না করায় দুর্ভোগ লাঘবে স্বেচ্ছাশ্রমের সংস্কারের জন্য এগিয়ে ভূক্তভোগী সচেতন এলাকাবাসী। ওইসব এলাকাবাসীরা তারা নিজেদের চাঁদার অর্থ বিনিয়োগ করে ভঙ্গুরদশা সড়কটি সংস্কারের কাজ শুরু করেন। তবে এ কাজের অনুকুলে প্রায় ১০লাখ টাকা নিজস্ব তহবিল সংগ্রহ করেছেন বলেও জানান ওই এলাকার সচেতন যুবকেরা।
৪ জুলাই শনিবার সকালে সরেজমিনে দেখা যায়, শাহবন্দেগী ইউনিয়নের খন্দকারটোলা-উচরং আ লিক সড়কের ভঙ্গুরদশা ৩টি অংশের মধ্যে খন্দকারটোলা-মাজারগেট, বাংলালিংক টাওয়ার- প্রাথমিক বিদ্যালয়-ফজলুর মোড় এলাকার প্রায় সাড়ে ৮’শ মিটার সড়কটি সংস্কারে স্বেচ্ছাশ্রমে কাজ করছে কয়েকজন শ্রমিক। তবে এ সড়ক সংস্কারে সচেতন এলাকাবাসীদের মধ্যে নূরুল ইসলামকে আহবায়ক ও খন্দকার ওসমান গনিকে সদস্য সচিব করে ৩৫ সদস্যবিশিষ্ট কমিটি গঠন করা হয়েছে।
সড়ক সংস্কার কমিটির অন্যতম সদস্য আবদুল ওহাব বলেন, সড়কটি সংস্কারের জন্য স্থানীয় জনপ্রতিনিধি ও উপজেলা প্রশাসনের কাজে সহযোগিতা চেয়েছেন। কিন্তু সহযোগিতা না পেয়ে গ্রামের মানুষজন এই সংস্কারের কাজে সহযোগিতার হাত বাড়িয়ে দিয়েছেন। তারা চাঁদা তুলে তহবিল সংগ্রহ করে গত বুধবার থেকে এই সংস্কারকাজ শুরু করেছেন।
খন্দকারটোলা গ্রামের ভুক্তভোগী নূরুল ইসলাম বলেন, এই সড়কের ওপর দিয়ে যাতায়াত করে খন্দকারটোলাসহ আরও ১২টি গ্রামের মানুষ। ওই সব গ্রামের সড়কের পাশে রয়েছে ১৩টি রাইস মিল, ১’শ ৫০টির মতো চাতাল এবং ২৭টি শিক্ষা প্রতিষ্ঠান। এই সড়ক দিয়ে অন্তত ৩০ হাজার পরিবারের লোকজনের নিয়মিত চলাচল করতে হয়।
নাম প্রকাশে অনিচ্ছুক দু’জন নারী বলেন, তাদের বাড়ির কোনো নারী অসুস্থ হলে তাঁকে দ্রুত উপজেলা স্বাস্থ্য কমপ্লেক্সে নেওয়া সম্ভব হয় না।
গ্রামবাসীর টাকায় এই রাস্তাটি সংস্কার শুরু করার মধ্যে দিয়ে হয়তো তাঁদের দুশ্চিন্তা দূর হবে।
সড়কে নিয়মিত চলাচল করা কয়েকটি যানবাহনের চালকের সাথে কথা বললে তারা জানান, সড়কের দুর্ভোগ রোধে তাঁরাও সড়ক সংস্কারে এগিয়ে এসেছেন। এতে সড়কে চলতে গিয়ে তাঁদের যানবাহনের যন্ত্রাংশগুলো বিকল হওয়া থেকে রক্ষা পাবে।
ওই সড়ক সংস্কারকাজে নিয়োজিত শ্রমিক খাদেমুল ইসলাম বলেন, সড়কটির অন্তত সাড়ে ৮’ শ মিটার সংস্কার করা হবে। সড়কের এই অংশে বিগত সময়ের পিচপাথরের পাকা উঠে গর্ত হয়ে রয়েছে। গর্তের গভীরতা প্রায় ৫ থেকে ১৮ ইি । এই স্থানে সামান্য বৃষ্টির পানি জমেই জলাবদ্ধতার সৃষ্টি হয়। তাই সড়কের অংশের দুই পাশে উঁচু করে ইটের দেয়াল তুলে অন্তত দেড় ফুট বালু ফেলা হচ্ছে। এরপর বালু ও ইটের খোয়ার মিশ্রণ রোলার মেশিন দিয়ে সমান করে যানবাহন ও সাধারণ মানুষের যাতায়াতের ব্যবস্থা করা হবে।
এ ব্যাপারে শাহবন্দেগী ইউনিয়ন পরিষদের (ইউপি) সদস্য মাহমুদুল হাসান লিটন বলেন, ছয় বছর ধরে সড়কটিতে যাতায়াত নিয়ে দুর্ভোগে রয়েছেন গ্রামবাসী। সড়কে জমে থাকা পানি নিষ্কাশনের কোনো ব্যবস্থা নেই। এ নিয়ে জনদুর্ভোগ বেড়েই চলছে। সড়কের খানাখন্দকের সংস্কার নিয়ে সংশ্লিষ্ট দপ্তর সংস্কারের কোনো উদ্যোগ নেয়নি।

The long-suffering Mazargate-Banglalink Tower and Mazargate-Primary School area of the road has been in a state of disrepair for a long time.As the upazila administration and the local administration did not take any initiative in the renovation of the road, the suffering will be alleviated. The residents of those areas started the work of repairing the broken road by investing their own money. However, the conscious youths of the area also said that they have collected their own funds of around Tk 10 lakh in favor of this work.
On Saturday morning, 4 July, it was seen on the spot that some people were working on the renovation of Khandakartola-Mazargate, Banglalink Tower-Primary School-Fazlur junction road in 3 parts of Khandakartola-Uchrang Alik road of Shahbandegi Union. However, a 35-member committee has been formed with Nurul Islam as the convener and Khandaker Osman Gani as the member secretary.
Abdul Wahab, one of the members of the road reform committee, said that he has sought the cooperation of the local people's representatives and the upazila administration in repairing the road. But without getting cooperation, the people of the village have extended their hand of cooperation in this reform work. They have started this renovation work since last Wednesday by raising funds.Nurul Islam, a victim of Khandakartola village, said people from 12 other villages including Khandakartola used to travel on this road. There are 13 rice mills, 150 huts and 26 educational institutions along the roads of those villages. At least 30,000 families have to use this road regularly.
Two women, who did not want to be named, said it was not possible to take any woman in their house to the Upazila Health Complex if she fell ill.
The villagers may be relieved of their worries by starting the renovation of this road with their money.
Talking to the drivers of some of the vehicles plying on the road regularly, they said that they have also come forward to repair the road to prevent road misery. This will prevent their vehicle parts from malfunctioning while walking on the road.
Khademul Islam, a worker engaged in the road repair work, said that at least 850 meters of the road will be repaired. In this part of the road, there is a pitch of paving stones of the past. The depth of the hole is about 5 to 16 e. In this place a little rain water accumulates causing waterlogging. So the brick walls are being raised on both sides of the road and at least one and a half feet of sand is being thrown. After that, the mixture of sand and bricks will be leveled with the help of roller machine for the transportation of vehicles and common people.
In this regard, Shahbandegi Union Parishad (UP) member Mahmudul Hasan Liton said, the villagers have been suffering for the last six years. There is no system to drain the stagnant water on the road. With this, the suffering of the people is increasing. The concerned department did not take any initiative to repair the road ditches.
Besides, he applied to the Upazila Engineering Department more than once but did not get any benefit. That is why the initiative has been taken to renovate the road by raising its own funds through meetings with the affected villagers, he said.Abdur Rashid, deputy assistant engineer of the concerned Upazila Engineer's Office (LGED), said the road is under the LGED office.
