কিন্তু এই ধ্বংসস্তূপেও অনেকেই আসছেন সকালের সূর্য হয়ে। কিংবা আঁধারভরা সংকটে সমাজের কল্যাণে মানবিকতার সূর্য হয়ে নিজেকে উৎসর্গ করে দিচ্ছেন অনেকেই। যার একজন শিকলবাহার ডাঃ ফারহানা মমতাজ।
যে কোন সংকটের সময় আমাদের মানবিকতা, আমাদের ভালো-মন্দ দুই দিক সবই প্রকাশিত হয়। আমরা কে, মানুষ না অন্য কিছু? আমাদের চোখের সামনেই তা উদ্ঘাটিত হয়। একাত্তরের মুক্তিযুদ্ধের সময় এই উভয় দিকেরই কথা আমরা শুনেছি। একজন মুক্তিযোদ্ধাদের বাড়িতে আগুন দিয়েছে। আর অন্যজন বিপদ জেনেও মুক্তিযোদ্ধাদের নিজ বাড়িতে আশ্রয় দিয়েছে।
প্রতিটি সংকটই আমাদের জন্য একটি সুযোগ সৃষ্টি করে। আমরা কি কেবল শুধু নিজের জন্যই বাঁচব না সবাইকে নিয়ে বাঁচব? এই বিপরীতমুখী অবস্থানের যেকোনো একটি আমরা বেছে নিতে পারি। সে সিদ্ধান্ত আমাদের, অন্য কারও নয়। এমনই করে আবেগ ভরা কন্ঠে আক্ষেপ করা কথাগুলো বলেন ডাঃ ফারহানা মমতাজ।
তিনি বলেন, বিপদের সময় যারা ভীরু, তারা ঘরে খিল দিয়ে বসে। যারা সাহসী, তারা মানুষের বিপদে পাশে দাঁড়ায়। করোনাভাইরাসের সংক্রমণ থেকে যে মহাদুর্যোগের সৃষ্টি হয়েছে, তা যুদ্ধের চেয়ে কোনো অংশে কম নয়। এই যুদ্ধে আমাদের অবস্থান কী, সে সিদ্ধান্ত গ্রহণের এখনই সময়। এখনই সময় আমাদের প্রকৃত মানবিকতা প্রকাশের।
করোনার মতো দুঃসময়ে আমার কিছু করার থাকলে কেন হাত গুটিয়ে বসে থাকব? এমন সময়ে মানুষের পাশে দাঁড়ানোর শিক্ষাই আমার বাবা আমাকে দিয়েছে। বলেন, মানুষের জন্য কাজ করাই আমার উদ্দেশ্য। আমি মানুষের সেবায় নিজেকে নিয়োজিত রাখতে চাই।
শিকলবাহা এলাকার সামাজিক সংগঠক ও ব্যাবসায়ী মোঃ মনির উদ্দিনের সাথে এবিষয়ে কথা হলে তিনি বলেন, করোনাভাইরাস সংক্রমণের পর সাধারণ মানুষের পাশাপাশি ডাক্তাররাও যখন রোগীর চিকিৎসা নিয়ে আতঙ্কে আছেন, সেই সময়ে মানবিক ডাক্তার ফারহানা মমতাজের প্রচেষ্টায় দরিদ্র মানুষ পাচ্ছে চিকিৎসা সেবা। তিনি নিয়মিত এলাকার অসহায় মানুষকে চিকিৎসা সেবা দিলেও আগামী ১৭ জুলাই থেকে আনুষ্ঠানিক ভাবে শিকলবাহার সকলে পাবেন এই চিকিৎসা সেবা।

তিনি ইতিমধ্যে চট্টগ্রাম মেডিকেল কলেজ হাসপাতাল থেকে নিয়েছেন উচ্চতর প্রশিক্ষণ। করোনাভাইরাসের কারণে প্রসূতিরা হাসপাতালে চিকিৎসা সেবা নিতে আগ্রহী নয়। এ অবস্থায় মহিলা রোগীদের চিকিৎসা সেবা দিয়ে ডা. ফারহানা মমতাজ দুর্যোগময় মুহূর্তে সৃষ্টি করেছেন অনন্য এক উদাহরণ।
কর্ণফুলি উপজেলা আওয়ামী লীগের অর্থ সম্পাদক আবদুল হালিম বলেন, সারা দেশে যখন একের পর এক হাসপাতাল, ক্লিনিক রোগী ফিরিয়ে দিচ্ছে, তখন চেয়ারম্যান বকুলের মেয়ে ডাক্তার ফারহানা মমতাজ নিজের প্রাণের মায়া না করে ঝাঁপিয়ে পড়েছেন শিকলবাহার মানুষকে সুস্থ রাখার প্রত্যয়ে। এসময় সবাই ডাক্তার ফারহানা মমতাজের পাশে বন্ধু হয়ে পাশে থাকার আহ্বান জানান তিনি।
