পুলিশী নির্যাতনে স্বামীর মৃত্যু হয়েছে মর্মে এসপির নিকট অভিযোগ

 

ফয়সাল আজম অপু, বিশেষ প্রতিনিধিঃ চাঁপাইনবাবগঞ্জ সদর মডেল থানা হাজতে পুলিশী নির্যাতনে স্বামীর ‍মৃত্যু হয়েছে মর্মে দোষীদের শাস্তি চেয়ে পুলিশ সুপারের নিকট লিখিত অভিযোগ করেছেন সদ্য বিধবা স্ত্রী। বৃহস্পতিবার (৯ জুলাই) বিকেলে স্ত্রী জুলেখা তার দুই মেয়েকে নিয়ে পুলিশ সুপারের কার্যালয়ে গিয়ে এ অভিযোগ জমা দেন।

 

অভিযোগকারী জুলেখা তার লিখিত অভিযোগে জানান, ৬ জুলাই সোমবার রাতে পুলিশের নির্যাতনে অসুস্থ হয়ে পড়লে তাকে আধুনিক সদর হাসপাতালে ভর্তি করা হয়। সেখানেই তার মৃত্যু হয়। অভিযোগে বলা হয়, স্বামী আফসার আলীর মৃত্যু নিয়ে অতিরিক্ত পুলিশ সুপার মাহবুব আলম, ওসি জিয়াউর রহমান এবং কর্তব্যরত ডাক্তারের বক্তব্যে ভিন্নতা লক্ষ্য করা যায়। অতিরিক্ত পুলিশ সুপার মাহবুব আলম বলেছেন, আফসার আলী আত্মহত্যা করেছে। কিন্তু মৃত স্বামীর গলায় আত্মহত্যার কোন চিহ্ন দেখা যায়নি বলে উল্লেখ করা হয়েছে। 

স্ত্রী জুলেখা তার অভিযোগে উল্লেখ করেন, পুলিশ হেফাজতে তার স্বামীর মৃত্যু হয়েছে। তিনি সোমবার থানায় তার স্বামীকে দেখতে গেলে তার সামনেই স্বামীকে নির্যাতন করা হয়েছে এবং তার স্বামী মাদক ব্যবসায়ী নয় বলে অভিযোগে উল্লেখ করা হয়েছে। তিনি পুলিশী নির্যাতনে স্বামী হত্যাকারীদের ‘নির্যাতন এবং হেফাজতে মৃত্যু (নিবারণ) আইন, ২০১৩ এর আওতায় দোষীদের উপযুক্ত শাস্তির দাবি জানিয়েছেন।

 

উল্লেখ্য, রোববার (৫ জুলাই) ‍দুপুরে অভিযোগকারীর স্বামী আফসার আলীকে হেরোইনসহ গ্রেফতার করে র‌্যাব-৫। সেইদিনই আফসারকে আসামী করে মামলা দায়ের পুর্বক আফসারকে সদর মডেল থানায় সোপর্দ করে র‌্যাব-৫। পরদিন সোমবার থানা পুলিশ আফসারকে আদালতে নিয়ে ৫ দিনের রিমান্ড চায়। বিজ্ঞ আদালত ১ দিনের রিমান্ড মঞ্জুর করে। 

 

আফসার আলী রিমান্ডে থাকা অবস্থায় সদর মডেল থানা হাজতে অসুস্থবোধ করলে তাকে হাসপাতালে ভর্তি করা হয়। হাসপাতালে ভর্তি হবার কিছুক্ষণ পর কর্তব্যরত ডাক্তার তাকে মৃত্যু ঘোষণা করে। নিহত আফসার আলী (৩৫) চাঁপাইনবাবগঞ্জ পৌরসভার ১৩ নং ওয়ার্ডের টিকরামপুর মধ্যপাড়ার মহসিন আলীর ছেলে।

Complaint to SP that her husband died due to police torture

Faisal Azam Apu, Special Correspondent: The newly widowed wife has lodged a written complaint with the Superintendent of Police seeking punishment for her husband's death in police custody at Chapainawabganj Sadar Model Police Station. On Thursday (July 9) afternoon, his wife Zulekha went to the Superintendent of Police's office with her two daughters and lodged the complaint.

Complainant Julekha said in his written complaint that he was admitted to Adhunik Sadar Hospital on Monday night after falling ill due to police torture. He died there. According to the complaint, the statements of Additional Superintendent of Police Mahbub Alam, OC Ziaur Rahman and the doctor on duty regarding the death of her husband Afsar Ali differed. Additional Superintendent of Police Mahbub Alam said Afsar Ali had committed suicide. But no sign of suicide was found on the neck of the deceased husband.

Wife Zulekha mentioned in her complaint that her husband died in police custody. When she went to see her husband at the police station on Monday, her husband was tortured in front of her and it was alleged that her husband was not a drug dealer. She demanded appropriate punishment for the perpetrators of the police torture under the ‘Torture and Death in Custody’ Act.

It may be mentioned that RAB-5 arrested the husband of the complainant Afsar Ali with heroin on Sunday (July 5) at noon. On the same day, RAB-5 handed over the officer to Sadar Model Police Station after filing a case against him. The next day, on Monday, the police took the police officer to court and demanded a 5-day remand. The wise court granted 1 day remand.

Afsar Ali was admitted to Sadar Model Police Station while he was in remand. Shortly after being admitted to the hospital, the doctor on duty pronounced him dead. The deceased was identified as Afsar Ali, 35, son of Mohsin Ali of Tikrampur Madhyapara in Ward 13 of Chapainawabganj Municipality.
