সিনহুয়া জানায়, সোমবার (২৯ জুন) বিকালে তালেবান বিদ্রোহিরা জাওজান প্রদেশের কারকিন জেলার ডেনার গ্রামে নিরাপত্তাবাহিনীর এক চৌকিতে হামলা চালালে এই সংঘর্ষ শুরু হয়। পরে সেনা ও পুলিশসহ সরকারি বাহিনী পাল্টা হামলা চালালে দুই তালেবান কমান্ডারসহ ৩৫ বিদ্রোহী নিহত হয়। এ সময় বাকিরা পালিয়ে যেতে বাধ্য হয়।
দেশটির কর্মকর্তারা আরও জানিয়েছেন, এ সংঘর্ষে আরো ২৫ জন বিদ্রোহী আহত হয়। এছাড়া এ সময় নিরাপত্তা বাহিনীর দুই সদস্য নিহত ও অপর তিন জন আহত হন বলেও জানানো হয়।
আজার নামের আরেক কর্মকর্তা নিশ্চিত করেন যে, সোমবার রাতে জাওজান প্রদেশের সীমান্তবর্তী খামিয়াব জেলায় তালেবান আস্তানাগুলোতে কয়েক দফা বিমান হামলায় ১৩ জঙ্গি নিহত ও অপর ১৭ আহত হয়েছে।
তবে তালেবানরা হতাহত বা সংঘর্ষের এ ঘটনা নিয়ে এখনো কোনো মন্তব্য করেনি বলে জানিয়েছে সিনহুয়া।
